Mail Armor Coif
From the Celts of 300 BC to 18th century
Asia, mail was one of the most prized items a warrior could own. The
Foe
of Swords probably derived the
name "mail" from the Latin
Macula
meaning net. This coif features 16 gauge links in the
"international" pattern - 4 links through a 5th - common to all
European mail. Faithfully copied from examples in museums and
private collections, it can be worn with or without a helmet. Outer
link diameter of each link is about 7/16”, inner link diameter about
3/8”. We recommend keeping this butted steel mail oiled at all
times. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®. MR300188 $70.00

Mail Armor Coif, Hero's Mail
We are proud to offer the peak of the
armorer's art (and patience) as it pertains to mail. The smaller and

Lorica Segmentata
Believed to have been introduced in the
ranks of the Roman Army during the first century A.D. and widely
used at the height of the Roman Empire. Although it never completely
replaced the mail (Lorica Hamata, #300398) and scale armor (Lorica
Squamata), for the modern mind the Lorica Segmentata typifies the
Roman soldier. Our replica is superb, made by Windlass Steelcrafts®
of 18 gauge steel. It is closely copied from a type of Lorica found
in Newstead, Scotland, that dates from the second century A.D. This
armor is quite flexible and allows plenty of freedom of movement.
Fits chest sizes from 42" to 46". Wt: 17 lbs/6 oz
