Warbow

The bow is similar to those recovered from the Mary Rose, a warship that sank in 1545. The bow is 76 inches long, with a draw length up to 32 inches. While bows from the Mary Rose pulled up to 150 pounds, this bow is offered with a draw weight of up to 50 pounds. The bow is made from select Red Oak backed with linen. The limbs are tillered slightly wider than the original. As with warbows of that day, there is no handle wrap but rather a small indentation to indicate hand placement. The bow is permanently finished and needs no maintenance.

Japanese Yumi Style Bow w/ three arrows
For centuries the warriors of Japan (Samurai) armed themselves with an extra long wood bow. The reason they used this style of weapon is uncertain, but the asymmetrical design allows the wrist and bow hand to be in perfect alignment at full draw, making for an accurate and sweet shooting bow. Its great length also allowed for a long draw which greatly increased arrow speed and power. Though the days of the Samurai warriors have long since passed, this bow is still used for the practice of a martial art call Kyudo (Japanese archery), which is growing rapidly. The bow is made from Red Oak backed with linen and is 84 inches long. It pulls between 30 and 35 pounds at 32 inches making it perfect for beginning practitioners of Kyudo. Included with the bow are three 44 inch arrows with a self nocks, and heat tempered tips. They are fletched with two natural turkey feathers.

WB-Yumi $125.00

Kid's Bow

This Kid's Bow is made from Red Oak backed with Linen. The bow is 48 inches long and pulls between 10 and 15 pounds at 18 inches. ADULT SUPERVISION IS REQUIRED. The bow is permanently finished and needs no maintenance. Requires purchase by an adult (age 18 or older).

WB-Kids bow $55.00

Welsh Short Bow

Given that there are no surviving artifacts of this weapon, exactly what it looked like is anybody's guess but evidence seems to suggest it was a very short bow. This design is based on a four foot bow made from Elm but in this case is made from linen backed Red Oak, which is very similar. It pulls between 40 and 50 pounds.

No matter what your draw length, this bow should only pulled to 20 inches or less, allowing anyone to shoot it. If you cannot pull to the full twenty inches that's okay, just draw as far as you can and release. This weapon is designed for snap shooting at distances up to 15 yards or so which makes it ideal for hunting in thick brush, reenactment, or just target shooting.
This bow is designed to be pulled no more than twenty inches.
WB-Welsh short bow $105.00

Defender

This bow is made from Red Oak backed with linen and is about 72 inches long. It pulls between 30 and 35 pounds at its maximum drawn length of 28 inches. It is flat on the back and round on the belly, a classic "D" bow design, which given the type of wood available and ease of manufacture would have been the likely choice for longbows made in Medieval times. The bow is permanently finished and needs no maintenance.

WB-Defender  $85.00

Battlebow

This bow is made from Red Oak backed with linen and can be custom tillered to a maximum draw weight of 45 pounds and a maximum draw length of 32 inches. The bow is 72 inches long for a 28 inch draw, with a flat back and a round belly. Also, like the Defender it is a classic "D" bow. This design was fairly easy to make from local materials making it the weapon of choice for the common man. This is a hunting strength weapon well able to take down deer sized game at close range. The bow is permanently finished and needs no maintenance

Linen Backed English Longbow

Our custom English Style Longbows are modeled after those made of white woods, such as Elm or Ash. These were occasionally used when Yew wood was not available. These woods were not as elastic as Yew and required a slightly different tiller in order to function properly. Bows made from these woods also did not require horn nocks as the wood was considerably harder than Yew. It is a great bow for target shooting, hunting, or reenactment. The bow is 72 inches in length and up to 1 1/2 inches in width at the handle, with a maximum draw weight of 45 pounds. The bow is flat on the back, round on the belly, and is made from Red Oak backed with linen. The bow is permanently finished and needs no maintenance.

Classic Medieval Sword
This sword is an Oakeshott Type X with a Type I pommel and a Type VII crossguard. The long and wide fuller on this blade lightens the overall sword and makes it possible to deliver fast and shearing cuts capable of cutting through the mail and padding that were worn during the period. The long guard offers good protection from an opponent's shield or blade while the classic wheel pommel brings the sword very nicely into balance. This type of sword was in service for a long period of time throughout all of Europe. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®.. Overall-39 1/2". Blade-33" long, 2" wide. Wt.-3 lbs. Swiss Baselard
Just as the German Landsknecht has his Katzbalger, so did the Swiss Pikeman depend on his Baselard short sword. These were superb close combat weapons; fast, light, capable of both good cuts and effective thrusts. The weapon soon saw use throughout much of Europe. Complete with a utility knife and skewer for the various needs of any campaign. Sword comes with a scabbard to accommodate both the short sword, utility and skewer. German Bastard Sword
This sword is a replica of number A477 from the famed Wallace Collection. Like many German swords it is primarily a cutting sword, with a wide blade that has a flattened oval cross section that gives very little resistance in a cutting blow. It is also a perfect example of a true hand-and-half or bastard sword. The proportions of the sword are that of a one handed sword, but with a slightly longer grip and a pommel shape that will allow two hands to be used by gripping both. The grip is wood covered in cord and leather. The long quillion has a decorative finial on the end and the side rings provide good hand protection. Antiqued steel parts to match the original. Well tempered high carbon steel blade by Windlass Steelcrafts®. Scabbard with antiqued parts included.  Overall-38 3/4" * Blade-30" x 2 1/8" x 3/16" * Wt.-3 lb. 10 oz. MR500792   $ 210.00

Long Sword
Despite having several names - War Sword, Great Sword, Long Sword and even Two-Hand Sword - and causing some confusion among collectors, the large sword was quite a popular weapon. Its great length gave it both reach and power, since the length increased the velocity substantially. However, with the addition of the long ricasso, the sword became even more formidable. The ricasso allowed the sword to be gripped past the guard, thus shortening the sword and allowing it to be used as short spear. This made a thrust more solid since the blade is held securely at two separate points. Our version of this sword is as formidable weapon as the originals. The blade is high carbon steel, tempered to a tough spring, the grip is ridged wood, wrapped with leather, and the pommel and guard are steel. Comes complete with leather scabbard. This is an interesting sword type that belongs in all collections of swords. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®.. Scabbard included.  Overall-48" Blade-38" long, 1 7/8" wide, 3/16" thick Wt-3 lbs. 15th Century Longsword
The longsword, often called a hand-and-half, saw a great deal of service as a weapon of war, but was also employed a great deal as a civilian weapon of self- defense. Coupled with a dagger, the longsword was an excellent defense against robbers, thieves, footpads, assassins and even some of the robber bands that might roam the countryside. A good serviceable point allowed it to be used for thrusting, and a medium weight allowed it to be used easily and carried with equal ease. This weight also allowed it to be used with one hand with a dagger in the other. But when needed, it could be gripped with both hands for a very powerful cut. Pommel and guard are steel. Grip is wood wrapped with leather and wire. A beautiful and very functional sword. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®.. Includes scabbard.  Overall-45 1/2" * Blade-36 1/2" long, 1 13/16 " wide, 3/16 " thick * Wt.-3 lbs. 4 oz.

Italian Falchion
The falchion was a weapon used in battle more than most people realize. Considered a heavy, single edged weapon designed for heavy chopping, it has an ancient history that stretches back to the Bronze Age. During the Renaissance its form became a little more elaborate, but its functionality remained the same. This was a heavy battle sword designed to oppose the combinations of plate and mail that were popular. The blade could shear mail with ease, and dent or crush lighter weight plate. We have copied a sword in the Florence Museum dating from about the first quarter of the 16th century. The blade is high carbon steel. The guard and the pommel are steel, while the grip is polished hardwood. The scabbard mounts are also steel. A beautiful and impressive sword. Made by Windlass

Oakeshott Type Xiia
The sword is a good example fo the kind used for civilain carry. Lighter than a battle sword, it excelled in cutting for unarmored combat. The grip is long for two-hand use with a row of studs under the fine leather for a very firm hold. The pommel (type T2) and guard (style 8) are bright brass for easy care. High carbon steel blades is thin and tempered to a good spring. Comes with leather scabbard. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts.

German Backsword
This beautiful backsword distinguishes itself with a wood grip covered with real black rayskin, for extremely positive hand contact. Comprised of gracefully shaped rings for the front and bars on the back and completed with long curved quillions, the steel guard offers excellent hand protection. With the metal parts of the furniture blackened to a deep luster, this is a seriously handsome weapon. With the use of slow to reload and still undependable guns on the rise and armor in rapid decline, a good sword was becoming a must again. This one was developed to excel as a heavy mounted horseman's weapon capable of terrible cuts to a foe mounted or on foot. The long single edged blade was extremely strong and stiffer
than a double edged blade. This is an important sword development and a must for your collection.
Well-tempered high carbon steel blade. Comes with a matching scabbard. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®.

Italian Hand & Half
The long quillions are fitted with rings for excellent hand protection. The grip is studded for a very secure hold and the pommel is large to balance the long, beautiful, etched blade. This kind of large, deadly sword saw service in land battles all across Europe during the almost countless exchanges for territory and dominion, as well as religious wars between Catholic and Protestant nations. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®. Includes scabbard.

Flared Long Sword
This type of Long Sword is pictured in many period fighting manuals. The simple hilt form allows for a varied amount of grips and is even portrayed in a strike while gripping the blade, a maneuver that seems odd at best. The simplicity of the hilt does limit the amount of hand protection, but this is somewhat remedied by the flaring blade that forms a lower guard that functions like parrying hooks. An interesting sword type that is a must for students of European swordplay. Comes with scabbard. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®.

German War Sword
This long and elegant weapon is highlighted by the hardwood grip and would be able to deliver lightning fast blows with two hands. Though the guard is somewhat typical we found the pommel unusual and interesting. The long blade is well-tempered and effective in the cut as well as the thrust. Comes complete with scabbard.  KNIGHTLY SWORD
A knight demanded that his sword be a good one, but also fair to look upon. This sword is both. Its beautifully carved solid hardwood grip provides a very secure hold and its fluted pommel balances it nicely. The guard is long for good protection from a sliding shield or weapon, and both are from antiqued brass for ease of care. Altogether an effective one hand sword. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®. ERBACH SWORD
This sword rests in the Schloss Erbach Armoury and is a fine example of a high medieval/renaissance sword (classsified as an Oakeshott type XVIII A). This is truly a beautiful example of a bastard sword, effective in the cut and the thrust. The steel parts are highly decorative and the high carbon steel blade is lightly hollow ground, giving the sword a great feel with one or two hands. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®. Includes scabbard. Overall 431⁄4" • Blade 34" long, 21⁄4" wide, 3⁄16" thick • Wt.-3 lbs. Can be seen in “Records Of The Medieval Sword” by Ewart Oakeshott.
